Backstage Update: Styles-RAW, Heyman's Contract, Tajiri Update, More

Joey Styles is expected to call RAW tonight. The feeling among many backstage is that Styles came through in a major way last week at Taboo Tuesday. If all goes well, the feeling right now is that Styles will be the head RAW announcer. We have no word on if a contract has been signed or will be offered today at RAW. Nonetheless, Styles is expected at RAW today. The Coach will likely continue storyline with his new 'gang'.

Tajiri did sign a new contract last week. It had been rumored that he wouldn't be re-signing as he wanted to spend more time with his wife. There was apparently some sort of issue where she couldn't get drivers license in the United States. The deal is said to be for 2-3 years.

Greg Valentine may be appearing on RAW or SmackDown! in the near future although this is not confirmed.

Paul Heyman's contract is expected to expire sometime next month. There is no word on whether he will re-sign or not just yet but he has been telling friends that he has several screenplays written up and has also told some that he has an idea on how to mix MMA and wrestling into a promotion. Some feel that Heyman may be telling people this in order to look stronger when it comes time to negotiate with WWE while others feel he is really interested in doing other things on his own. Heyman has been scripting the Ohio Valley Wrestling tapings for the last several months ever since Jim Cornette was fired for slapping a student.
