10 Wrestlers Who Can't Stand Hulk Hogan
Bob Backlund
Bob Backlund and Hulk Hogan made several claims about each other outside the WWF ring. Hogan claimed that Backlund attempted to change the booking of Hogan’s title win over the Iron Sheik in January 1984, while Backlund has blasted Hogan, saying he wasn’t “a model for young people to look up to” and denigrating him for his steroid use.
Bret Hart
Hart’s hatred for Hogan stems from Hogan’s denial to put Hart over for the World Heavyweight title, which is why “the Hitman” has called the Hulkster a “one-out-of-three” wrestler and said he “didn't know a headlock from a headlamp.” Hart denied shaking hands with Hogan at the WWE HOF Induction Ceremony in 2005, and has called him a “phony piece of s***.”
Bruno Sammartino
Sammartino never liked how little Hogan seemed to offer from an in-ring standpoint, saying, “A lot of people thought he was a great draw, but in reality, he really wasn't.” He also added that Hogan no-showed matches against him in the mid-late '80s and had to be replaced by Sgt. Slaughter.
Doink The Clown
Matt Borne, the one behind the “Doink the Clown” character, claimed that Hogan refused to go through with a scheduled match with him because of Borne’s closeness to Buzz Sawyer, a man the Hulkster wasn’t on good terms with. Borne said, “He was an arrogant f***,” and that “I look at him and laugh [...] He's a phony inside and out.”
Iron Sheik
Professional quarrels aside, the Iron Sheik despised Hogan on a personal level, saying, “Linda, his wife, she's a good person [...] She left you [Hogan], and you are some piece of garbage.” He also despised the way Hogan handled the incarceration of his son Nick, following a drunk driving arrest, including downplaying the passenger’s injuries.
