The 7 Best And 7 Worst Dave Bautista Movies
Guardians of the Galaxy
Director James Gunn took a chance casting Bautista in his breakout role in "Guardians of the Galaxy," noting that he chose Bautista to take on the role of Drax the Destroyer because of his comedic timing. "No one else who auditioned was that humorous," Gunn said, and a movie review praised his performance calling him, "the perfect straight man."
Escape Plan 2: Hades
Bautista took the role of Trent DeRosa in "Escape Plan 2: Hades" to work with legendary action star Sylvester Stallone, saying, "Our first scene together [...] I said 'Look man, I'm not going to be a fanboy today. But tomorrow, I'm probably going to ask you a hundred questions.'" The movie ended up with 8% on Rotten Tomatoes, making it one of Bautista's worst roles.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2
"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" was bigger and more heartfelt than its prequel, and Bautista was given another chance to show his comedic skills by reprising the role of Drax, who was given more backstory, motivation, and hilarious lines. Praising the chemistry between characters, /Film called it a "satisfying sequel."
Escape Plan: The Extractors
Despite poorly-received prequels, "Escape Plan: The Extractors" is the final film in the movie trilogy. The film took just 17 days to make, showing just how much effort was put into it; however, it managed to get slightly better reviews, with the L.A. Times calling Bautista "especially entertaining as Breslin's resident gunslinger."
Avengers: Infinity War
In a film with A-list movie stars, Bautista shines as Drax in "Avengers: Infinity War" despite having just under five minutes of total screen time. His famous line, "why is Gamora?" has been meme'd to no end on the internet, and the line was ad-libbed, making it that much more hilarious and impressive from the former pro wrestler.
